Consultation
A meeting (in person, video, or by message) between a client and artist before booking. Used to discuss design, placement, size, style, and pricing.

Good artists use consultations to understand what you want and advise on what will work well on your body. They may ask for reference images, discuss your skin tone, and suggest modifications. Skipping consultation is a red flag.
