I really appreciated how comfortable and welcoming this studio felt from the moment I arrived. The space was clean, well maintained, and thoughtfully arranged, which helped create a calm atmosphere. The team here was professional, kind, and clear in their communication. I felt supported throughout the entire process, and nothing felt rushed or stressful. As someone who spends a lot of time traveling and streaming, I notice studios that prioritize comfort and care, and this one definitely stands out. Follow me on Instagram @AutumnTheNomad

UPDATE: The artist never apologized or handled the situation, he simply blocked me. Talk about immature — so much for “unlimited” touchups. This whole studio is such a scam. Came here with my fiancée for a walk-in to get small matching scissor tattoos back in June. First quoted $150, then suddenly bumped to $180 for a 2” design — wildly overpriced, but we went through with it on impulse and we wanted matching tattoos for pride. We also tipped of course, which then brought both tattoos to over $200 each. I saw Chris, my girlfriend saw Manny. For reference, I am heavily tatted (40+ large tattoos and having spent over 10k) and I just wanted something fun, spur of the moment. Big mistake, we should have driven to our regular artist in Santa Ana (shoutout Ryan at Port City but anyone at that studio is so amazing). Both tattoos healed terribly. Patchy, uneven, and absolutely not worth the cost. Trying to schedule a touch-up was a circus. I scheduled for 4:30pm, got a text not even an hour before — they texted me moving it to 5:30pm because they took a walk-in. We drove 1.5 hours from Newport to LA in gridlock traffic, only to be texted again at 4:45pm that my fiancée’s appointment was being pushed back to 7pm. Less than an hour’s notice when we were already more than halfway there. Completely unprofessional. To top it off, when we checked in at 5:10, my artist Chris immediately took a walk-in instead of honoring my appointment and said he would see me after. So, my appointment was pushed back twice because they took two walk-in’s. Manny, my fiancé’s artist, was also tattooing someone else too. Mind you, both of these walk-ins had just started (clients were sitting down with equipment set up but actual session hadn’t started). So, both artists, even with our touch-up appointments booked in advance, pushed ours back to take two clients each in front of us — when we already conveyed to them we were on our way and coming in from out of town. In the end, a completely different person did both our touch-ups. To be fair, the shop owner is the one who did the touch-ups to try and make it right but he also kept giving us new excuses and said it was our fault for not contacting him directly. This explanation is really ridiculous, we had appointments scheduled hours before and both our artists asked us to keep pushing our times back. He said they’re 1099 employees — so have been all my other tattoo artists (all my work is across 5 different, WELL-ESTABLISHED, COURTEOUS, AND PROFESSIONAL studios). I said that’s ridiculous and I’ve never had this problem across other studios. He kept putting it on my fiancée and I for DM’ing the artists directly about scheduling a touch-up on Instagram, but I’ve literally never had a problem with that in the past when it came any other artist I’ve worked with. Mind you, my fiancée also called the shop directly (like he asked but still the same problem happened). Just seemed like a lot of excuses back to back and he kept pinning it back on us. I went through with the touch-up from the other artist — we had already driven an hour and a half and weren’t going to wait until 7pm for our original artists. But, we will both be going back to my our regular artist at Port City to rework this design properly and handle any future touch-ups. Tattoos are permanent, and Generation 8 treated ours like an afterthought. The level of disorganization and disregard for clients’ time is unacceptable. To top it off, one tattoo artist was arguing back and forth with the piercer (the kindest person in the shop who gave me my belly button piercing back in June). He was arguing with everyone in the shop that she had moved her phone (in front of the other six clients that were there) which brings a whole new level of unprofessional. The only saving grace was the piercer, who was genuinely kind and professional. Unfortunately, one decent staff member doesn’t make up for an overpriced, careless, and unprofessional tattoo experience. Save yourself the money, time, and headache — go literally anywhere else.

I happened to stop in this tattoo shop one evening, just to see pricing on a tattoo idea that I’ve been wanting to do. Not only did I receive my tattoo that same night with the owner, Dave, he was very informative, patient, and thorough with my questions and tattoo! He also provided my friend and I with tokens for a next time service, (which I cashed in the next day) and used it towards a freehand cover-up the same day. Dave, and his team are talented, and thorough with their work, and I’d recommend them to anyone who’s looking for some new art! Thank you!

I’ve known Dave for over 10 years now. He did the first tattoo on my wife and is responsible for my favourite tattoo on myself! Since starting Generation 8, i’ve been wanting to get down to California to get some new work done. When I saw his new establishment, I was blown away! Very clean, lots of artists doing amazing work and we couldn’t help but to finish up another tattoo for my wife when we were here. Can’t wait to come back and get some more work done! I highly recommend Dave and his amazing staff of extremely talented artists.
