It was a true honor to be tattooed at the first tattoo shop in Portugal by the original artist, Francisco. He made the entire experience incredibly personal and real, treating the art with the weight it deserves. Beyond his talent, the man knows his music (honestly, more than anyone I know) which made the atmosphere in the shop even better. ​I came in with my best friend of 22 years, a brother who has stood by me through the absolute craziest chapters of life, in every aspect, through both the heights and the trenches. Our bond is built on true loyalty; he has been there through my struggles just as I have been for his. Getting tattooed together by Francisco on the same day wasn't just a session, it was a definitive mark of a brotherhood that has survived everything life could throw at us for over two decades. We both chose to incorporate the Galo de Barcelos into our pieces to represent the survival of our bond and the integrity of a friendship that has lasted through it all. ​The design process itself was truly uncanny. Without knowing my family history, Francisco independently drew an Anchor, Cross, and Heart for me. When I saw it, I was floored; it was the exact same tattoo my grandfather had, the first tattoo I ever saw as a kid. It felt like destiny. Amazing how Francisco just knew. ​Francisco truly took the time to listen to my story, and he knew exactly how to customize the artwork to reflect my 22-year journey. Here is how we refined the piece to symbolize my path in Portugal: ​The Cross: Faith and spiritual guidance that kept me steady through my darkest chapters all through the 22 years of brotherhood. ​The Galo de Barcelos Handle: Integrity and survival; it represents 22 years of a bond that stood firm through the craziest times in life that couldn't kill us, even though it tried. ​The Shattered Bottle: A definitive mark of my victory over alcoholism, permanently broken and left behind. ​‘Um Dia de Cada Vez’ Banner: A daily reminder of my sobriety and the vital importance of being present as I build my life here in Portugal. The 8 Stars: These represent the 8 years it has been; the distinct one is for my son who is currently missing from my life, I see it daily as my 'North Star' to guide my directions, while the surrounding stars represent the constant hope and navigation I use to move forward every day. ​Francisco is a master of the American Traditional style. If you want a tattoo that carries real weight, history, and a personal touch, he is the only person to see. This shop is my new home, and I am already planning on coming back for more. ​Obrigado, Francisco, for honoring my past and my new future.

El Diablo Tattoo Club is the place to go in Lisbon! Francisco and his son are amazing, super friendly tattoo artists. I gave Francisco an idea of what I wanted and returned to a totally unique one of a kind piece. Once my arm was finished and as I’m waiting for my brother to have his piece done by Francisco, I had Francisco’s son Fred do a free-hand piece on my finger. Very clean and professional tattooing! Rock n Roll!!

I walked in and they got straight to it. Incredible experience, highly recommend, and I’ll definitely be back next visit.
